Three plans sounds simple until you are trying to decide between them. This is a plain comparison of what each plan includes, what it does not, and the kind of user each one is designed for.
The Free plan: genuinely usable, not a teaser ¶
The Free plan gives you 50 messages per day across any character on the public roster. Text chat only, no voice or image generation, and conversation history is retained for 7 days. That is a real limit, not a generous one. If you chat every day, you will hit the message cap. But if you want to understand how the memory system works and whether a specific character is worth investing in, the Free plan is enough to find out.
Premium: the plan most users settle on ¶
Premium at $18 per month removes the message cap, adds voice messages, image generation with under-four-second latency, 90-day conversation history, and access to the Character Builder for one custom character. For most users who want a full companion experience, Premium covers everything. The one-character limit on the Builder is the main constraint. If you want to experiment with multiple custom characters, you will need Ultimate.
Ultimate: for users who want everything ¶
Ultimate at $38 per month adds priority image generation (under two seconds), 365-day conversation history, unlimited custom characters in the Builder, exclusive characters released monthly, and early access to new voice profiles and experimental features. The exclusive monthly characters are the detail that surprises people: they are not available on Free or Premium, and they are not added to the public roster after release. If you want access to the full character library as it grows, Ultimate is the only way to get it.
Switching between plans ¶
You can upgrade or downgrade at any time from your account settings. Upgrading takes effect immediately. Downgrading takes effect at the end of the current billing period. If you downgrade from Premium to Free, your conversation history is retained for 7 days before being reduced to the Free-tier limit. Upgrading from Free to Premium before that window closes will preserve the full history.
A note on the summer offer ¶
Through July 31, 2026, new Premium subscribers can use code SUMMER26 at checkout for the first month at $9. This is a first-month discount for new accounts only. After the first month, the plan renews at the standard $18. There is no annual commitment on any plan.
